Ground Up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Widely regarded as one of the most effective and efficient martial arts on the planet, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is both mentally stimulating as well as a great way to get in shape and learn to defend yourself.  At Ground Up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu our focus is to teach competition proven techniques coupled with an understanding of fitness, strength and conditioning that can be used to build complete athletes from the ground up.

When attending a class at Ground Up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, students receive small group instruction from not one but two high level instructors.  For the first hour, students are taken through a kettle bell and body weight strength and conditioning regimen.  For the second hour, students are taught competition proven techniques by one of the most active jiu-jitsu competitors in the Cleveland area.  All classes are capped at 8 people to ensure that each student receives ample instructor attention, thus ensuring the maximum absorption of information from each class.

At Ground Up Jiu-Jitsu the techniques taught are tried and true.  We focus mainly on fundamental jiu-jitsu that can be applied by beginners and experts alike, and can be used in self defense or in competition.  For this reason we are confident that anyone from a day 1 student to a seasoned competitor will be happy with the instruction we provide.

Many gyms offer strength and conditioning.  Many gyms offer jiu-jitsu.  What sets Ground Up Jiu-Jitsu apart from any other program in the area is that we integrate a strength and conditioning program that will build your strength, mobility, flexibility and explosiveness in such a way that your jiu-jitsu will improve.  All techniques covered in the strength and conditioning portion of our classes can be translated into movements relevant to live jiu-jitsu training.  This ensures that we truly build jiu-jitsu athletes from the ground up.
